It helps if you have two blocks handy. Developing a good and strong chaturanga will change your yoga practice.

(chah-tuur-ANGH-uh dahn-DAHS-uh-nuh) Chaturanga Dandasana Is a significant component of Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Power Yoga. Rarely referred to by its English name, Four-Limbed Staff Pose, this pose is most commonly called “Chaturanga.” The full name comes from four Sanskrit words: “Chatur” — meaning “four.”

  1. This is an amazing tutorial! You have such a gift for explaining proper technique and a creative way to demonstrate it. I could feel all the muscles engaging and now I have a clear understanding of the best form. Thanks Lizette!

  2. Thank you Lizette for this very vital demonstration. I do all of my yoga class from YouTube. I learned from this video that I was pushing my elbows back during Chaturanga poses. The use of blocks was also very useful here. These demonstrations are important for people like me who are not working with a teacher and do not get corrections. 👍🏾

  3. Great tutorial for its explanation and sequence. I have seen people lowering themselves almost to the floor without touching then doing upward dog or cobra before going into downward dog. Can you explain why you stop at the blocks height and now lower down? Thanks again for your video

  4. Good that you exain how to do it, but I don't hear any yoga instructors talking Why you do it. All sorts of poses, but no explanation as to Why you need to do it?
